Regular consumption of fresh organic vegetables and green juice are one of the very best gifts that you can give to your body.

Juicing allows large amounts of greens to be consumed, which  executes a cleansing process, boosting the immune system and improving energy.  In addition,  it rapidily feeds the body nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and minerals in a form that the body can easily assimilate, absorb and digest; apparently studies have shown that the nutrients from juiced vegetables are distributed into the bloodstream within 30 minutes of consumption!

Green juices and smoothies consist of leafy greens, or a combination of leafy greens  with other fruits, vegetables or herbs.  The best combination is personal to one’s taste and only via expermenation does one begin to acquire favorites recipes.  For beginners,  the WEB offers countless recipes and great resources. When juicing includes 40 to 60%   fruit, rather than completely greens or a small amount of low sugar fruit, such as lemons, then it needs to placed under a different category. Ultimately the goal of green juicing and smoothies is to consume greens and not to interrupt its benefits by adding a high percentage of fruit.

By juicing, one consumes large quantities of chlorophyll.   It increases the flow of  oxygen thoughout the body, thus releasing carbon dioxide, toxins and stress.  Ample quantity of oxygen contributes to an aerobic environment,  making it inhospitable to disease.  Enzymes are also needed to digest food.  A diet consisting mostly of cooked and processed foods promotes enzyme deficiency.  Low levels of enzymes can lead to a toxic colon, promoting future diseases.

Juicing versus green smoothies

When juicing, one uses a juicer which separate the pulp from the juice.  Smoothies are made in high speed blenders, such as Vita Mix or Blentec,  and the pulp and juice is not separated.

With juicing the juices are void of fiber.  The result is a pure green juice that is quickly absorbed and transferred to the bloodstream for complete concentration on repairing, healing, detoxification, and cell renewal.

With smoothies, one typically adds water,  or a watery fruit, to blend the greens into a smoothie, otherwise it will be too thick to drink.   Since fiber is  included, the  digestion process of smoothies is longer than  a green juice, subsequently slowing the speed and amount of nutrients absorbed into the bloodstream. However, raw vegetable fiber removes colon toxins, and assists with good colon bacterial survival,  contributing to dramatic  improvement of  elimination.  A clean colon facilitates the absorption of nutrients, therefore improving digestion.

The question is: which is better, green juice or smoothies? There is no definite response.  They both have their benefits, and alternating will ensure maxium benefit.
